Read Nancy's latest Prayer
Letter.
Nancy's interest in missions
began at an early age.
She was influenced by
the wonderful example
of a missionary her family
had "adopted"
and often invited for
dinner while she was on
furlough. Mission trips
with Peninsula's high
school group also sharpened
Nancy's interest.
Although she had a strong
desire to be involved
in missions, Nancy didn't
know how God could use
her. During a missionary
training program (PMT)
she discovered the great
need for teachers to instruct
MKs (missionary kids).
She was fascinated to
learn that many MKs became
missionaries themselves.
After all, they have an
advantage since they are
already bilingual and
bicultural.
Nancy finds teaching missionary
children very fulfilling.
Presently she is a missionary
with Wycliffe Bible Translators
teaching in Lima, Peru.
She exclaimed, "It
has been exciting to see
God working in the lives
of the children. The most
rewarding experiences
have been when we had
opportunities to do ministries
including puppet shows
in orphanages and other
places. The students were
able to see others come
to know Christ as their
Savior."
Nancy has taught classes
in Honduras, Colombia,
Papua New Guinea and Peru.
Prayer
Letter
October 2002
This year our missionary
kids and our two teachers
joined the new NICS school
(Network of International
Christian Schools). It
has been quite exciting
to be a part of this outreach
to the expatriate community.
Last week was Peruvian
Awareness Week. Each class
had to do some research
and give a presentation
to the school. Our class
did presentations on the
holidays of Peru. I was
very proud of my students.
We also had a special
presentation by a group
of Peruvian folkloric
singers, which was a real
treat. Speaking of treats,
we had a delicious Peruvian
food potluck. On Friday
we were able to take a
field trip to the nearby
ruins (very nearby, it
only took us about 15
minutes to walk there!).
This year I have all boys,
except for one girl. So
far she is holding her
own but praying for another
girl. They are quite a
mix of different levels
from extremely bright
to really slow and struggling.
Please pray for wisdom
for me as I try to meet
all their needs Pray,
too, for balance in my
life, as I have been working
12-hour days. This year
we are developing our
own science and social
studies curriculum, which
has been quite a challenge.
Last year I join a Community
Bible Study in Spanish,
which has been a real
blessing and challenge
(it requires quite a bit
of homework). It is purely
an in-depth Bible study
based on the Scriptures,
open to anyone wanting
to study the Bible. It
is not an a church nor
is it connected with any
particular, church, which
is quite refreshing. Getting
to know the Peruvians
as well as your prayers
for me have helped me
to feel more at home in
Peru. Thanks so much for
being a part of my ministry
with your prayers and
support.
Gratefully,
Nancy Manoly |
