Prayer Newsletter

Beach Student Ministries is an interdenominational, evangelical Christian group on campus at California State University Long Beach (CSULB), involving students from different backgrounds and countries who are committed to these beliefs...

We believe the Holy Bible is God's authoritative word to persons of all generations and cultures. The Bible is the final authority in questions of faith and practice for this ministry.

We believe God has revealed Himself in Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

We believe people who know Jesus Christ personally, in a living, dynamic relationship, have hope and purpose for living.

We believe that God in His great mercy has given us as believers, new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

We believe every believer in Jesus Christ is called to minister His love to people in his/hers sphere of influence.

Beach Student Ministries was established by a group of pastors and alumni interested in providing an opportunity to glorify our Lord. BSM's desire is to do exactly that, by reaching, teaching, and equipping college students to study the Word of God for themselves and to prepare them to lead others to do the same around the world.

Beach Student Ministries is solely supported by the financial investments of interested individuals, groups and churches.

"Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account." - Philippians 4:17 (NKJV)

You can play a vital role in this ministry by PRAYING REGULARLY for the Holy Spirit to lead us in all we think, say, and do! Also, would you please ask the Lord to give you a burden in your own heart to pray for the students at CSULB.

BEACH FRONT NEWSLETTER

Winter 2005

Dear Friends in Christ,

Happy New Year!

Once again we write to you to declare all our Lord is doing here at Cal State University Long Beach and it is our hope that you are blessed to hear of how the Holy Spirit is moving in the lives of the young Men and Women in Beach Student Ministries. We are very excited to share with you how the Lord is working and pray you are blessed and encouraged.

On Campus we continue to teach the Word simply and clearly. We challenge the students to surrender to the Lord’s leading and to allow the Holy Spirit to change them to be more Christ-like. We have been blessed to be able to teach the Word out in the open at our Tuesday Night Bible Studies in the Student Union as well as Outside with our Sunday Morning Outreaches. This Spring Semester our Tuesday Night Bible study will be covering the many people throughout the Bible who have made an impact for God. We will learn how we may be encouraged and used in similar ways right here at CSULB. At our Sunday Morning Outreaches we will continue through First Peter as we look to our Lord for guidance from His Word.

“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”

2 Timothy 4:1-2

We know that developing relationships with each Student the Lord brings to Beach Student Ministries is extremely important. It allows the development of trust and friendship that leads to discipleship. At BSM we do this through many fun and exciting activities while keeping Jesus as our central focus. This past October we had outdoor fellowships through another Bonfire at the beach and a campout at Casper’s Wilderness Park in San Juan Capistrano. In November BSM had a Girl’s Tea and Lorna taught the girls “How to have a Quiet Time with the Lord”. The Guys went on a “Discipleship Road Trip” to the Grand Canyon and learned “The Seven Essentials of a Godly Man!” Please check out the pictures on our website at www.BeachStudentMinistries.org. In December we were blessed to enjoy a Bowling Night right here on campus at the CSULB Bowling Alley. We had fun! The Girls had a Retreat in Murrieta, CA where Lorna taught on “The Fruit of the Spirit”. Our December mission trip to Miracle Ranch Orphanage in Mexico was a two-fold blessing. The children preformed a Christmas program and our students had an opportunity to purchase much needed supplies for the orphanage. As you can see the Lord has given us plenty to praise Him for this semester! The Lord is guiding us in helping our Students to grow and draw near to Him through all these different opportunities.

“But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD,

That I may declare all Your works.”

Psalm 73:28

PLEASE PRAY FOR:

1. The CSULB Administration, Faculty, Staff, and Non-Believing Students to allow us, BSM, to serve the Lord here as He leads. We have been coming under growing opposition and some hostility this year.

2. The BSM Board, Staff and Student Board to be continually led by the Holy Spirit in all we think, say, and do to/for God’s glory and for wisdom, guidance, protection and discernment in all things.

3. We pray that the Staff, Faculty, Administration, and Students at CSULB come to repentance and trust Jesus as Lord and Savior.

4. We pray that the Students who are Christians will step out in the power of the Holy Spirit to be a witness, and that they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

5. Please keep our Bible Studies and all of our activities in prayer.

6. Please pray that the Lord will continue to provide for all our needs, thank you.Thank you again for all of your prayers and support we are blessed that the Lord has put Beach Student Ministries on your heart to stand with us in order to reach college age men and women. Please praise our God for all He has done and is going to do in our coming Spring Semester.
